Skycaddie Sg5 Review - Is It The Best Golf Gps For Your Money?

In the past, before GPS technology became widely used, golfers played their games assisted by minimal amounts of technology. GPS devices are rapidly changing the way drivers reach their destinations and how travelers explore. Even though there are many success stories, some people don't mind GPS devices since they aren't cheap, usually over $300.

Not only are GPS devices changing the way people drive, but they're changing how golfers work on improving their games. One such device, the Skycaddie SG5, has gone far beyond boundaries and found its way into the pockets of golfers everywhere, making it a huge success financially. After reading a Skycaddie SG5 review, we found that many golfers praise the unit for its ease of use and functionality, but others are wondering if the Skycaddie SG5 is worth its $350 price tag. After reading this review, we decided to do a review of our own to find the answer to this question.

The full color display allows certain technologies to work like the IntelliGreen technology which gives the golfer complete control of the green. Certain statistics can be observed including the green depth, front carry, and back yardages. If the IntelliGreen Pro (currently in Beta) is activated, mounds, contours, and major tiers can be displayed as well.

The IntelliGreen technology works in conjunction with the QuickVue technology to highlight the best path all the way from the tee to the green. Because the 2.2" backlit LCD display is easy to see, golfers can quickly recognize the shape of the green and the hole. This feature doubles as a progress tracker, allowing users to retrieve more statistics including the distance from their current position to the green.

The Skycaddie SG5 provides much more than just a visual aid to golfers. Other statistics are stored and displayed which can take the place of traditional scorecards. Golfers that take advantage of digital scoring only have to set their preferences and par for a customized handicap setting. After a shot is made, golfers can press a single button and the device will display exactly how far the ball traveled. This proves useful when experimenting with a variety of clubs.

Not only does the Skycaddie SG5 follow the golfer in terms of location, but it guides the golfer through the entire game, recording all statistics for easy review at any time. Because the device relies on downloaded maps of the courses, the Skycaddie should have no problems.

There is another feature, the HoleVue technology, which is currently in beta testing that will provide the most accurate information possible. This technology goes through the entire course and doesn't depend on satellite imagery. Not only does this technology add to the eye candy, but it adds a great deal of detail including green targets, bunkers, or other hazards.

These technologies are plenty to convince golfers to plan ahead and lower their scores by taking advantage of the attractive interface. In addition to the GPS device, the package includes a travel case, car charger, and an LCD protector. After completing our Skycaddie SG5 review, we believe this package is well worth the price tag.
